A Teacher Running to Better Understand Her Students' Struggles

Several years ago, I came across a story about a local woman who was running 100 miles to raise money for college scholarships for the high school students she was teaching. When I sat down to talk with Kate Fletcher about that run, I had no idea how much her words and her life and her friendship would come to impact me.
Kate has a heart of gold. And, she gives a lot of the credit for that gold to running. In my recent conversation with her, she told me that much like folks who typically find a "flow state" through art or writing or some more traditional for of creatitvity, she finds hers in running. Running, she told me, allows her to access this space on a daily basis where she is much less concerned about herself. She says this break from self-centeredness presents her with the opportunity to be more compassionate toward others.

To peek a little deeper into the heart and soul of this beautiful person, watch this video put together by gofundme studios back in 2018.
